a question for thinkers and visionaries.

Occasionally we see individual commodities run with a unique story of why it is the next big thing - e.g. U with the nuclear renaissance amid political CO2 reduction measures (pre Fukashima), REEs with new generation tech applications, and graphite with emerging electric vehicle energy storage.

Ultimately the story bubbles and people who get in early make a lot of money.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at the next "new" that is going to get explorers ditching their crusty old low-grade gold prospects chasing the next big thing?

I keep going back to food (i.e. potash and rock phosphate)in light of the population who can increasingly afford meat, thereby significantly reducing the ability of arable land to produce consumable calories - but that is hardly visionary.
