A question on overburden

Guys im sitting doing some bulish calcs again - like my last valuation and thinking why is it so high. look to any minning engineer readers or more infomred than me guys can you help me here.

lets say CLA does a 2mtpa mine - starting with open pit with trench pit type mine (for example)- as in without too much overburden.- or same applies in an underground shaft mine.
    my question is:

Is there a common estimated figure on how much of that 2mtpa would actually be DOF orebody being dug up? Im thinking about 80%- I know its different in each case- buts is there any average figure to use? -or is it a "how long is a piece of string" question?

or is a 2mtpa through-put normally after discounting all the overburden -as in thats just the amount of Dof orebody to be pulled up as my last cals were based on?

any help friom anyone actually in the game would be much appreciated
