    Can anybody please explain why the $AUD has fallen against 'basket case' currencies such as the Thai Baht and the Philippines Peso?

    When I was in Thailand mid 2008, I was getting nearly 32 Baht to the dollar.

    It recently sank to around 21-22 Baht to the dollar, although now recovering.
