This is where Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) is a perfect candidate for this situation, where you don't need to dig up the coal to transport it. It's a process of picking up the Undersground Coal seam, which is in a depth that is not conventionally extracted - the coal seam should ideally be between 200m and 800m, but it doesn't mean we could not go beyond 1000m.
