    This is the next best outcome for TLS, being able to build the network without the huge capital strain allowing them to look to use their cash to expand further overseas.

    Monopoly you say, its been a long time since TLS could use their monopoly position to their advantage they will still thrive without owning the entire fibre network, natural progression and opportunity for TLS is abroad


    I think the thing for me as an investor- is that TLS is world leading in its profitability ATM (and priced accordingly)relative to its peers.
    Why? well it seems to me the answer is the money it milks from other telco's using its network. In other words the difference between telstra and its peers is the existing network arrangements.
    Now once you remove that, the premium paid for earnings surety disappears.
    Now you may well be right that they can now use their cash flow to expand into asia, but there are huge risks there. The ASX is littered with big dominant aus companies that expanded os and couldnt cut it- why should we assume that Telstra will be any different?
