Interesting theory about Nexus trying to divert attention away from the permit... but... I don't think that is it.
Bids had to be in by 9th November 2006, so any companies interested would have had their applications in for it.
I'd say it's simply a case of the SHELL/NEXUS JV, already processed Crucis 3D seismic and the ability to appraise within a likely sooner timeframe.
In any case, back onto the Crux ST, they should be drilling at a rate of ~140ft/day, so they'll be through the zones by early next week.
