Ardent, I have news for you.
Towards the end of WW2 most Germans had defected from the Nazi ideology, only because they were losing and knew it.
Leading up to the war, any good German worth his brutwurst, couldn't wait to become a member of the Nzai party.
The youngsters couldn't wait to become member of the Nazi Jugend Movement and so on.
They were absolutely caught up in the euphoria and charisma of Hitler and what he had promised them.
Of course there were many Germans who saw the writing on the wall from day one, but as a general rule you could easily say without any guilt, that Germany was a Nazi country with the full support of it's parliamemnt and citizenry.
I would bet $$$$$$$$$$ that 95% of Germans today over the age of 75 WAS a member of the Nazi party.
