Liberals admit they are getting calls from constituents on climate change this summer. Nobody wants to go public on the issue while the fires burn, but they expect the party room to revisit the issue.
Precisely.
The tragedy is they have to wait until climate change is a proven phenomena.
The problem has always been, by then it's too late.
People are deluded on this issue.
The problem is that reductions alone aren't enough.
We have to REVERSE climate change. It's like a train that's running away. When we talk about emissions reductions understand that this is only talking about slowing the train.
NO. To even begin to stop the disasters, we have to reverse it.
At the moment there is no way of removing carbon from the oceans where the warming is located that's driving the changes.
When people wake up to that, all hell is going to break loose. In fact it has already started to break loose.
We don't have any current way of removing that carbon.
This is a failure of governance. It's a failure of democracy.
IT's a failure to protect and prevent, because governments don't lead anymore, they just respond to public pressure.
If there's a yawning gap between public understanding and reality, and science, then you have disaster on your hands.
Think about it.
