    @dub,

    This is really funny.

    You preface your post with the catch-all introduction of, "For interest..."

    Given the sheer paucity of anything resembling economic literacy in that post - unsurprising for someone who has no formal training, education or experience as an economist - the only people that might find it to be "of interest" are those who are equally unschooled in economics and capital market functioning.

    Anyone with a skerrick of sense will see it for the BS that it is.

    After all, Martenson's "Peak Prosperity" commercial franchise has been around for at least the past decade - evidently, it substituted his "Peak Oil" fear-mongering when the oil price went to $150 a barrel in 2008.

    And this was a guy who broadcast the he had sold his house and all of his stocks in 2009.

    Martenson seems to run narrative built around whatever macroeconomic circumstances are scaring the world at any given point in time.

    I'm sure he sells his books and his website generates advertising revenue irrespective of whatever bogeyman he is peddling at any given point in time, as long as he attracts willing enough eyeballs (such as yours).

    After all, fear sells stuff.

    But, had one over a long period of time taken Martenson's shrill scaremongering seriously, one's personal financial position will have been very seriously impaired.

    I think it is not unreasonable to suggest that if you want to reference something that you think might be "of interest" to fellow HotCopper members, that you steer clear of sources that have zero credibility.
