There won't be a warning. As soon as Weebit is ready to announce, they will request a trading halt. The shares will be $6.50 before the trading halt and they'll reopen at the new price as soon as the announcement is made. Your friend won't get the chance to buy back at the old pre-announcement prices. IMO
