"150 Millimeters TJ cells*" you speak of, is the raw substrate size before they are broken up into cells, this is the substrate size that is passed onto the fabrication people who actually apply the triple junctions to this substrate and then they are broken up into individual cells.

The receiver is 25cm sq or .25 of a meter across and .25 of a meter down each module consists of 32 cells and there are 16 Modules each being 6cm by 6cm, if you multiply 6cm by 4 modules it gives you .24M across and there are four rows down of the same modules, so there are 16 Modules in this new receiver not 64 like there were in the old CPV receiver which was .48M across and .48M down .
In the new receiver there are 512 cells, that is 32 cells for each modules and there are 16 modules, these new cells cost between $1 and $2 per sq cm, each module is 6cm by 6 cm so 36sq cm for each module , as against 2048 cells in the old CPV where the cells cost is or at least was $20 per sq cm, again each module is 6cm by 6 cm i.e 32 cells in each module which is again 36cmsq and there are 64 modules in the old receiver, so if you multiply 64 modules by 36 cm sq by $20 that would equal $46,080 per receiver for the old one.
But for the new receiver it is only 16 modules by 36sq cm by between $1 or $2 , so lets say $1.5 that equates to only $864 dollars per new CPV receiver , that's a far cry from $46,080 especially when you multiply that by 2000 for 100MW, that would equal $92,160,00 just for the receivers, if it were for a new install with new receivers then the total for them would only be $1,728 000 albeit for an 800KW plant and it would also cost a lot more to make 64 modules than it would to make only 16 modules for the new receivers.

Management wants to sell this and/or turn it over to someone else to manage (someone who will laugh every time they go to the bank to deposit THEIR profits). IMO, we are witnessing a possible act that proves, (once again) questionable management accompanies questionable thought processes.
Yes it is a remarkable savings, but personally, I don't believe they are selling either Translucent or Solar Systems, I think what they will do is partner with another company, someone who will do the heavy lifting from here on, I have thought this from day one, I read the release by Silex all those months ago a lot different than most people did, perhaps I am wrong? but I really don't think so somehow? but even if they did sell, it would not be for peanuts for a world leading technology?
