Well, that's a flawed argument because there are no new applications for new LNG projects on the east coast of Australia, so every additional gas molecule produced on the east coast today would alleviate the gas shortage.
Pretty rudimentary logic.

There is ample gas available for domestic use - a whopping 27 trillion cubic feet of the stuff (2P contingent resource) - sitting in geologically accessible settings on Australia's east coast in very close proximity to existing gas transport and processing infrastructure, so the margin return on capital would be very attractive to any party(ies) wanting to develop the resources to supply the market.
