The current SP reaction to the news from Block 121 is a little surprising since there has hardly been any anticipation built into the price for the drill.
However it is hardly a big drop in SP compared to the possible rise if the news had been really positive with significant hydrocarbon shows.
But it is not as though there is no hope.
Origin made this comment in its announcement:
"The well encountered shows of wet gas only in a secondary objective."
PPP was a little more expansive in its comment in its announcement:
"The well did penetrate wet gas shows associated with indications of overpressure within the shallower Miocene section which demonstrates that a working petroleum system is present on Block 121."
So while Ca Voi has not produced the real goods it has provided some information and a glimmer of hope. Some gas has been found and therefore there is a working petroleum system in Block 121.
Hopefully somewhere in the Block there is a prospect, or hopefully several prospects, with significant hydrocarbon accumulations to exploit.
Ca Voi has given a few clues. Just got to go back to the plotting table.
