It's always hard to work out the deals other companies or nature of them until they are opened up - everyones always been looking trying to link most likely scenarios but rarely it's how it has played out. FWIW Roche has a deal with A*Star against cancer targets but then again they also had a $600m deal with polyphor against PA same as current Genentech target and they paid $40m upfront then walked 2 years later. Merck has deals with PYC's competitor Peptidream but so do most i guess ? It will all come out when it does.
