Once the ship leaves the harbor and arrives at the lease, which is a huge area in its self, (some 2,050 sq km) the ship will head directly for the most productive area in the block defined by the 3D seismic data collect by Hunt Oil. The time required to do such a CSEM would be no more than 3-4 weeks if weather is favorable.
With the new data collected Shell will have the answers they need before the ship docks.
My estimate for an announcement by FAR that the option will or will not be taken up will be prior to July 16 '09.
Again, as it has been alluded to in an earlier post, Shell know what they are doing and have very little doubt there are Hydrocarbon reserves off Senegal.
The waiting is almost over.
