Days of short squeeze are few and far. Instos have implemented ways to not get caught or minimum. ARU short position will reduce in a controlled manner in my view - they have not missed out yet and have made significant wealth in past 16 months. I view todays trading different to past - whenever good news and sp gains shorts supported it - sold into it then quickly pushed the sp down to their agenda making more substantial gains. Today they have not and given imminent announcements on gov assistance clarity and already existing management communication - end of June is a real possibility of debt and off takes closures. I'm prob wrong but we'll see next week.
Also interesting re the hot RE supply space is ASM have since 21 March received a letter from both US and Canadian export import banks such is the significance of Biden's tariffs and security of RE supply. ARU are a very long way down that pathway to similar financing and off take deals. ASM SP bounced significantly then back down it went and currently after 15 million at $1.16 discounted placement yet trade today at $1. Just extended time on offer by a week. Kind of like ARU position to them but here we are remaining being manipulated until such time ARU deliver the major de risking announcements advised. Sheorts have all in hand in the meantime and looking for a catalyst - a change in their position as guidance to when the binding details will be released is interesting side play.
