Hi mms, one thing to consider is how long you plan to be away from the grid (or supplies)
A good eski, eg, techni-ice will keep things frozen for days (up to a week in ideal conditions) and damn cold for a week or more used with the appropriate ice blocks. (the bigger the better)
Made from Polyethylene they a strong as hell and can be used as a table/workbench ladder/step etc. They will take any amount of heavy things stored on top of them, ie in transport.
The power consumption of the car fridges is the critical point. The cheaper ones are usually more expensive to run.
Obviously these days solar panels are affordable and reliable to keep the necessary batteries charged. (teir 1 of course)
Fridges can be wired to the vehicle electrics to get charging on the run. There a are many different ways to wire them in so as to prioritize the charging of batteries from the alternator or the solar panels.
Of course all of this is extra cost on top of an eski.
