    just got back to the work house from Perth.
    Took the leap of faith, shortened the pole by 150mm and drove the spade bit in “on line of sight”.
    I was completely confident that A- it would be wonky and unbalanced.
    B- the foot would snap in half under the weight.
    C- I would drill into a soft patch and the folly would crack into 2 or multiple pieces.

    Bugger me!!
    it seems to look okay and as yet it is standing reasonably true

    I think it stands a bit to far away from the foot and may take another 150mm off the pole.
    Open to suggestions on that one?
