With that flame burning bright,it seems to me that
once the "Magna Carta" is finalized between Cougar
and Ignite,it will just be a matter of time before
a "Major" steps forward to influence the Victorian
Government on behalf of UCG and Cougar.Don't be
surprised if that Major is Ignite.
The Latrobe Valley is estimated to contain 50/100
BT of coal,situated under a limestone layer with
a high moisture content.However,Russia has had total
success with their Lignite/UCG performance.
On another tack...
One wonders,what has eventuated since Sept 0/8 when
Mr Rudd established a "CCS institute",with a commitment
to provide $100m PA, to fund the programme and its global
backers.
To date..The International Panel on Climate Change est-
imates that storing one tonne of carbon ranges from $28/
115,and that it would take 30% more energy produced at
coal fired plants to capture storage.Also it would cost
$10/16 billion to inject 20 megatons of carbon into the
ground,which is the equivalent to the annual tail pipe
exhaust of 4 million vehicles.The economics of CCS are
"deadly".
During our recent trip to Europe we were informed that
Bulgarian UCG engineers working with Dobrudja's coal
seams have successfully re-injected the carbon back
into the coal seams from which it was extracted.
My gut feeling is that all Cougar has to do is put one
paw after the other,for Victorian coal lease [EL4416]
will be "ANOTHER" company maker and the potential for
Mr Brumby's Government backing is strong.
