So Slats, in addition to the 2 years it will take to resolve the legal process for Mr Thomo, the indie Mr Wilkies had this to say:
"But Mr Wilkie said the campaign against the Labor backbencher was politically charged, and that Mr Thomson could not be removed because his ethics were found to be questionable.
"The possibility he may have engaged in activities that some people regard as being unethical is an important consideration,'' said Mr Wilkie.
"But the member's character is something to be judged at the next election and is not in itself a reason for him to lose his seat prematurely. So too the next election is the time to pass judgement on the Governments handling of the matter."
