Malaysia can't shut down lynas. Why? Malaysia needs Japan.
This thinking has been presented before, and it's fair and square with facts. But not enough.
Certainly if there was a health or safety mishap or a finding gross negligence with respect radioactive materials handling, they would be shut down. Even if only temporarily that would crush stock price. Ever-present danger, low risk. Intrinsically and operationally low risk.
Barring that, I think it's highly unlikely that Lynas is shut down by F&W or anyone else.
Unfortunately, while not shutting Lynas down is sufficient for Japan, it is not sufficient for investors.
Malaysia could lay waste to the company's potential profits by requiring much higher bond payments, or by not permitting essential and timely expansions and alterations. And the share price would suffer if Condisoil is not approved. And what happens if AP, TR, or FR ores prove to be of even slightly higher radioactive content? All new negotiations and approvals? There's a lot more to the Japanese-Malaysia relationship than Lynas.
Maybe the Japanese will accept Condisoil to keep Lynas open?
Bottom line: Stockholders need better than "ok, Lynas can stay open for the Japanese."
