As far as kids go, and it has probably been generated by the same train of thought, not being able to smack a child is the route of many of todays problems imo. They need a good belting sometimes to have respect for authority and to be kept on the right path. Kids nowdays have no respect, and think they are untouchable, which to some degree they are.
