1. 100s of thousands of jobs saved? lol - why not just say millions and millions. Trillions in fact!
2. Stop the boats is also Julia's line. Just she's failed to do it. In the end - immigration is good and helping refugees is good. However we've created a market for people smugglers to risk the lives of innocents in boats that are overloaded and not designed for the journey. THAT is what must be stopped - the illegal smugglers, not the immigrants.
3. Nauru - political ignorance maybe. Compare with Julia's announcement before even working through proper channels with E Timor! hmmmm
4. Debt is the problem the PIGS have, and regardless of how you look at it, interest generated by loans is money that is not available for other tasks. If we get back to surplus, we have more for infrastructure, or maybe, like China, we can start buying income producing assets and be able to use the extra income generated for even more. Since we are an aging population - this wouldn't be a bad thing and may take some of the burden off our young when we hit old age.
5. BER waste? From the interim report and from the Victoria experience, an estimate of 50% waste is not far off the mark.
