CV, you correctly point out that there is no irrefutable cast iron proof for a God. That is a fair point.

Nonetheless - here we are. And we have been trying since history began to make sense of why we are here.

Any belief about our origins is based on faith (the scientificly religious folk will disagree, but their own assumptions are not able to be proved either. They use the laws of physics, chemistry and maths to determine our origins at the big bang - but cannot explain where those laws came from. They haven't produced a single example of in transit cross species evolution in over 150 years of archaeology. Every fossil is miraculously fully and completely a complete species).

The varying beliefs about our origin (big bang from nothing, followed by blind watchmaker sort of magic hokey pokey, christian creationism, some historic greek mythology that we were created from one of the gods masturbating, the bleeding bull mithras etc, etc) arose because our existence is a mystery, and people seek purpose in their lives.

It is clear that without purpose many people find life a burden rather than a joy.

Christianity purports to KNOW the purpose of life - and states it for those willing to study a bit. Most people today put three or four years into a degree - how many have even read what is in the Bible? Not many.

So, what do you say our purpose is - and what will you replace religion with?
