a world without religion, page-34

Religions of various kinds are about a set of beliefs handed down through the ages. Sometimes people take their beliefs too far or they have no idea of what their religion actually teaches. Sometimes stuff that happens has nothing to do with what a religion teaches but what a particular member of the religion thinks about what the religion teaches.

What those who attack religion think is that they have a superior faith, a superior "religion", usually they think it is completely superior because it is based on Science, based on observable facts. However, as the global warming story has shown us, there may be scientific facts but what they mean is not a matter of science but a matter of opinion, or faith, in some cases. Even what is fact is contentious.

Throwing away religion will not make the world a safer place, in fact I think it would make the place a much more dangerous place because there would be no standards by which to judge beliefs held by non believers in religions.
