Short selling provides liquidity to the markets and is a good tool to correct mis allocation of capital.
IMO removing or regulating short selling would cause a distortion in the markets and would interfere with the process of capital being correctly allocated. If people get caught on the wrong side of the trade then they should take responsibility for allocating their funds incorrectly and not go crying to the government to regulate to save them from their own mistakes.
