I worked for Abbott Labs who have been in the infant formula market for many years. They employed a considerable number of nursing sisters to promote their infant formula to doctors and maternity hospitals.

They gave infant formula product samples to doctors and maternity hospitals on the basis that when mother and baby was 'sent home' with a particular brand of infant formula that was the brand and that was purchased and used until the baby of milk and was introduced to food.

It was particularly effective marketing and ALL the companies used this marketing method at that time If a suppliers in the Chinese market adopts a similar marketing strategy it would change the dynamic's of the market.
