You report any Capital Gains (CG) as income. If you hold the investment >12 months then your CG is discounted (halved) by 50%. If you sell < 12 months then your CG for tax purposes is the full profit.
All CG is added to your annual income and depending on your tax bracket, the tax you pay on your CG can be different to the next person. Any tax you pay from the CG additional income is called CGT
