This isnt a big deal and isnt really worth dwelling on at all but just to confirm.. your basis of saying the CEO of a listed company is 'taking the p1ss' by doing something that you 'completely understand & yes happens all the time' is that one specific CEO (who also used to run a prop desk/managed portfolio for a globally signficant investment bank's resource fund) was able to purchase his stock without selling any.
I'm not trying to have a go at you but mate.. be a bit more considered before you accuse management of the 'taking the p1ss.'
