A blend of ethanol in fuel increases octane (power), improves combustion efficiency (better fuel economy), improves environmental performance, lowers tail pipe emissions and in particular the particulate emissions. Particulate emission, consisting of partly burnt fuel, is known to be the principle cause of increased instances of lung and respiratory disease in built up communities. On a national basis, an ethanol industry is proven to lower greenhouse gas production, improve a country’s balance of payments, improve national energy security and have a positive economic affect on the local communities and result in a marked increase in local disposable income.
