A read of Stan Weinstein's "Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets" will prevent losing money whilst learning. Old fashioned but the tips are easily understood with many chart illustrations. Moving average mainly used is 150 days simple. He picked major turning points in the '80's
