The problem is what happens next - if Peter Dutton knows of such cases in Alice Springs then under mandatory reporting legislation he had to report it. However, according to media reports he has NOT done so.
As a public school teacher in Victoria, failing to make a mandatory report can even lead to criminal prosecution! Yet it appears from media reports that Dutton has merely mouthed off in general and may indeed not know of ANY case of child abuse in Alice Springs that's not already being addressed by authorities.
