@pintohoo; I recall that John Howard use to take his advice on matters before the Parliament from his wife.
Tony Abbott regarded Howard and George Pell as mentors but mainly acted on advice from Peta Credlin, while Scott Morrison relied heavily on his Hillsong mate.
The only data they seemed to take any notice of was opinion polling, albeit Abbott was like Donald Trump when those polls went heavily against him.
Now we have Peter Dutton as Liberal Leader. When asked about data by a female reporter it appears blood welled up in his eyes and he could not identify any on which he'd based his assessments. Most effective leaders are data-driven, small wonder there's speculation re what's driving Dutton.
