    Indeed Footy, politics is tough and brutal. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

    While Abbott had his faults, at the end of the day it was the 18 months of poor polling that lead to his down fall. The possibility that Abbott could have turned the polls around to win the next election was just too dim after he was given 6 months to do so.

    The futures of 100 or so MP's was on the line and with a election next year at best they could have given another month or two but it would be a big risk to have given him longer.

    The dramatic turn around in the polls vindicated the switch to Turnbull, thank god the prospect of Shorten as PM has been rubbed out
