Neither this thread nor my posts are about defending Indonesia's 'diplomacy' as it relates to Timor Leste or West New Guinea [ie. Papua & West Papua]. I have previously posted about these matters and remain concerned for the indigenous peoples therein.

But that does not give Australia the right to offend Indonesia as Tony Abbott continues to do, it does not give Australia the right to make inhumane and unilateral regional decisions about the management of desperate and vulnerable asylum seekers and it certainly does not give Australia the right to breach another nation's sovereign territorial waters.

Even Abbott & Morrison are on the public record as apologising for such, asserting that it is not government policy and promising not to re-offend!

We now live with the consequences of their gross ineptitude; once navy frigates are involved on both sides it can only be called "gunboat diplomacy"!
