Another interesting post mate. It will be interesting to see if Tony Abbott and Noel Pearson can make genuine inroads into Indigenous issues in Australia. Many previous Governments have had good intentions regarding Indigenous communities in Australia only to pour Billions of dollars into a bottomless pit with much of the money being syphoned off into people's back pockets. Spoke to an Indigenous guy in Brisbane a few weeks back who runs Government funded courses for young Aborigines around Queensland and he gave me some pretty eye opening insights into how most of these Government schemes fail.
It's a massive task for anyone to undertake to overcome decades of mismanagement and the task really is very complex. Issues such as Alcoholism, petrol sniffing, glue sniffing, unemployment, domestic violence, sexual abuse, homelessness, drugs and racism are just a few of the issues to deal with.
