There is no doubt in my mind that Abbott in government will have to break some promises which he is making to the Australian people. Most governments, when faced with the reality of actually running the country, find that they cannot afford to keep some promises for various reasons.
The one big danger and problem for Abbott are that, when it is time for him to break some promises, after spending years hammering Rudd and Gillard about their broken promises, the electorate will start to see Abbott for what he is, just another politician making promises to win government, and the people will not forgive him lightly when the next election comes around.
