You are correct the numbers are big and too big for Turnbull to ignore. It is probably more likely that Abbott will return to the front bench. How Turnbull reacts to this will the the tester!
For the sake of the party, which Turnbull has no interest in really he should fall on his sword. I think the sword will need to be in the hands of those who now oppose him.
If Turnbull survives to the next election we'll have a Labor Govt!
The Lib's had better change their leader for a truly conservative one or else as you mentioned Hairy, One Nation, the Liberty Alliance and other more conservative parties will continue to drain the coalition of votes.
Mike Baird should also go. He is but a twin brother of the Wentworth Waffler!!

LOL how did ALA go at the last election, I recall you guys predicting they would win a heap of seats. The didn't even get enough votes to qualify for AEC funding LOL
