    the entire strategy behind the co-payment was incredibly poorly executed.

    All they needed to do was say, "health costs are increasing, we're proposing a modest charge to visit a doctor. People with concession cards don't have to pay (i.e. we're more interested in making sure poor people go to the doctor than we are in charging them $7/visit), but all other Australians do have to pay"

    that's it! ... I would bet my left nut that most Australian's with jobs, that are solidly in the middle class would have said ... "ok fine .. good .. stop talking about it and just do it "

    INSTEAD, they REFUSED to just concede that concession card holders might find it difficult to pay and stuck to their guns.

    now the whole thing is gone .. it's like a circus
