The system is broken, well not so much broken but out of date. electorate mood and sentiment is so transient that our style of plodding govt can't keep up and is thus hamstrung. Moreover the career pollie incumbents have no need to update the system as they are on good wickets regardless.
Solution? One five year term per pm, one cabinet term per pollie. Give them a mandate, but without fear of voter backlash so that hard decisions get made.
Requires a fix to the senate voting system. Also remove mandatory voting.
