if proceeds of the mining tax went into a sovereign wealth fund rather than into the hands of the incompetent Swan - who can't explain nor sell the simplest of ideas - it would be a wildly popular policy throughout Australia.
As it is, the mining tax was poorly structured and appallingly sold to the electorate.
