Tony Abbott, former health minister, has said the tobacco plain packaging legislation "could be counterproductive". It certainly could be... counterproductive to Coalition party political donations from big tobacco!

The definition of counterproductive is "having the opposite of the desired effect." Can someone please tell me how on earth it is possible that if plain packaging is introduced that sales of cigarettes could increase? Perhaps in a fictitious Abbottonian universe?

Big tobacco says it will have no effect. So why is big tobacco fighting this measure tooth and nail if it is going to have no effect? Because they know it will have an effect.

Abbott has shown that he is a political chameleon. He will change his colours for short term political expediency and continued donations from big tobacco in the Coalition war chest. He would not know what a principle was, even if he fell over one. The guy has no scruples and is morally bankrupt. He is unfit to be prime minister and even the cynical electorate here in Australia will never elect him because he has shown us he is unelectable.
