There are some things that we should steer clear of and Syria seems to be one of them...
There is shadow-play upon shadow-play in that mess with Russia, Chinese , Saudis, Israelis,French and US all involved in various and multiple ways and all pushing their separate and conflicting agendas...
The mess seems to be made even worse by a corrupt media pushing the agenda of various sides...
Don't see why Australia should be involved at all except to do what Tony Abbott did and note Australian abhorance of whatever group used, or supposedly used, chemical weapons and make it plain that if cashed up welfare-shoppers from Syria jump on planes to get to Indonesia to illegally enter Australia, the welcome mat is not out...
I think Tony Abbott handled the obvious set-up for a gotcha-journalism question well by keeping the issue in a sensible perspective rather than trying to jump in with both gumboots stuck deep in your mouth like Rudd...
