    Polls ebb and flow but data is data and the historical record provided by this report in the AFR is hard to deny. Even more so since the likes of the recent Morgan Poll and NewsPoll show similar trends.

    Julia Gillard's 'W' shaped recovery in fortune is common to all aged groups but especially significant among older voters. It's also interesting to note that is mostly highly rated by younger voters - given her position on gay marriage this surprised me!

    As for Tony Abbott; his ratings by age group are pretty similar to each other. They've all been heading downhill since September 2011 and now appear to also be dragging down the Coalition's previously massive 2PP leaad.

    The data is beginning to scream out that mainstream Australians want nothing to do with Abbott and that unless the Coalition ditches him for Malcolm Turnbull they will not be given the nod at the next election.
