I have just listened to the debate link given above by one poster - not much wiser. I also read an article full of explanations of economic theory and business models etc.

Essentially it will make internet a bit more expensive for every user, plus the way they're going to roll it out, it will give disadvantaged country users a chance to participate - they're planning of doing the country first - but nothing's for sure.
[I don't even have a gas connection here in the Hills, have contacted politicians - not interested - too much rock!!! I bet they'll drill the rocks for the broadband stuff, though. I am going to bother my lazy local politician again, maybe the gas connection can come along with the broadband?? not likely :-((((( ]

For the present I am just interested in how it will affect Telstra - I have a friend who invested big time in Telstra -lots of lovely dividends, but s.p. going down down down down do-o-own! Not much joy on the TLS thread, though.
