My understanding is that CLR had secured 2Mtpa port capacity at Abbot Point (T4-7) but it seems that this expansion has now been squashed by the Queensland Government as you rightly posted.

I would think that CLR may now negotiate with Adani, BHP and/or Hancock for any unused capacity at T1-3. Failing that, they have the option to further pursue port capacity at the yet to be constructed Dudgeon Point Coal Terminal as they had already been doing.

Does this recent bad news on Abbot Point Coal Terminal expansion impact CLR? Perhaps it's already factored into the share price? I guess the market will be the judge in the days ahead.

I personally do not believe that Carabella can meet the late 2015 timeline to produce and export. Dudgeon Point Coal terminal will in my opinion be ready by around 2017 at the earliest.

In CLR's last Quarterly Report they said this (clearly they were talking to the then ALP QLD govt)...........

"Carabella is a shareholder in the North Queensland Coal Terminal (NQCT) consortium, which has been selected as a Preferred Respondent to develop a 30 Mtpa coal terminal at Abbot Point. During the quarter, negotiations were progressed with the Government-owned North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) in respect to finalising the Preferred Respondent Agreement (APRA). Following agreement on the APRA, NQCT will commence further negotiations with NQBP to agree a binding Framework Agreement setting out the commercial terms for development of the coal terminal.
Discussions were also progressed with a number of parties regarding interim port capacity for the potential gap period between the completion of the Grosvenor West mine and the completion of the NQCT terminal."
