More time for say on Abbot Point Terminal impact
Sigrid Brown, ABC March 14, 2011, 9:05 am
The period for public submissions on the environmental impact of the Abbot Point Terminal expansion in Mackay, in north Queensland, has been extended.
The 16,000 hectare site was declared a state development area in 2008, with the Queensland Government planning to establish a large scale industry and a multi-cargo port on the site.
The draft environmental management plan for the terminal includes the Kaili Valley Wetlands that are within the declared area.
Submissions on the plan can now be made until March 31.
