Details aren't out yet but I think opening the door to significant increase in higher education is only asking for trouble. Putting a degree outside the hands of many & higher education then only for the privileged if born into wealth ? The problem then comes back to unemployment - what happens there if only a select number of people enter into higher education and yet things like manufacturing are shrinking in this country ? Where's the unskilled jobs for all those people that have had a degree put out of their reach going to come from ? Does that mean inevitably you will end up with more and more people queuing in unemployment lines ? If you don't make higher education readily available for all then i'd hate to think of what this country will look like in 10-20 years time.
