Tony Abbott's family life is not what's at issue. It's his public life and leadership style that are at issue.
If all the media reports are correct; it sounds as though Abbott finds comfort, support, enrichment and re-assurance from his family life. That's great!
But what matters to Australians is how Abbott conducts himself in public life and especially when under duress and as Opposition Leader: the noddies, the press gallery walk-offs, the vulgar language, the insults to overseas dignatories, the tolerance of nasty insults others direct at his female opponents, storming out of Parliament, having to be suspended from Parliament, ...
Rather than trying to persuade us that the perceptions of 60% of Australians about Tony Abbott are wrong; he should have acted to improve on those aspects of his behaviour with which people take exception.
