    I agree with your sentiment and wouldn't usually be in support of paying people to have kids as that's their own choice. I am however heavily biased.

    I originally thought of this as a strange policy for a liberal government to have. It sounded more like a Labor policy to me. I now think the policy may have been partially introduced to win the votes of young women which was a demographic not in favour of Abbott.

    I bet the policy has worked too. For a young professional couple this should be an absolute vote buyer and I admit it was for me and my wife. 30k+ benefit difference per child is too big to ignore. Young people are waiting out for PPL to kick in to start 'production'. I have no doubt that when this policy starts it will result in a baby boom.
